Unbelieveable Image.jpg

On a sunny April day in 1931 something unbelievable happened. A 17 year old young woman from Chattanooga Tennessee struck out two of the greatest New York Yankees of all time: Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig one after the other in an exhibition game between the Chattanooga Lookouts and the Yankees. Jackie Mitchell was signed by Joe Engel, the “P.T. Barnum of Baseball” to a contract with the Lookouts. Her legend has been surrounded by controversy for years. Did Jackie really strike out The Sultan of Swat and The Iron Horse that day, or was it just a stunt? Jackie’s story is truly unbelievable!

It’s the classic “My sister’s got a barn…Let’s put on a show” musical comedy about young Jane Falbury struggling with her family farm when she’s invaded by a company of actors launching their Broadway bound musical. The show recreates Judy Garland’s iconic Get Happy and Gene Kelly’s unforgettable dance to You Wonderful You with a squeaky floorboard and newspaper. Woven into the score are additional songs from the Harold Arlen and Harry Warren catalogue including Accentuate the Positive (Arlen), Let’s Fall In Love (Arlen), The More I See You (Warren), It’s Only A Paper Moon (Arlen) and My Shining Hour (Arlen)
