Sam is a director who loves to tell compelling stories that move audiences on stage and screen. His work has been seen by audiences across the U.S. and globally, focusing on developing and creating new work while breathing new life into classics.

Originally from New Jersey, Sam had a successful career as an actor starring as Pippin in Pippin with Ben Vereen on the national tour, performing and serving as dance captain on Broadway in Les Miserables, and performing and understudying the lead in Broadway’s Cyrano the Musical.

Sam moved to directing starting at universities and summer stock theatres, eventually landing as the Associate Director of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast where he supervised the show on Broadway and mounted multiple productions around the world. Then great success came as Sam became the director of the national tour of Elf the Musical, which toured domestically from 2012-2024, playing the Theatre at Madison Square Garden and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Sam won the SALT Award for Best Director of a Musical along with Best Musical of the Year for his production of Les Miserables at Cortland Repertory Company and the Broadway World Award for Best Director of a Play for Agatha Christie’s An Unexpected Guest also at Cortland Rep.

Sam’s passion for developing new work has found him working with some wonderful collaborators on shows like the award-winning musical A Thousand Faces based on the life of film legend Lon Chaney, the world premiere of Southern Harmony-A Murder Balladat Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre, the world premiere National Tour of the musical Noel with book by best-selling author of the Artemis Fowl book series, Eoin Colfer, and developing and directing the new family musical, The Elf on the Shelf; A Christmas Musical.

Also passionate about working with young performers, Sam has taught master classes at many schools such as the International College of Musical Theatre, Boise State University, The College of Mount Saint Vincent, and North Broward Preparatory School and also does private coaching.

Sam is a founding member and currently serves as the Artistic Director of Skyline Theatre Company, a professional non-profit theatre company in New Jersey where he lives with his family.
